Overall, the atmosphere in this scene is immaculate. The bright face lighting has you tightly focusing on the characters' expressions. Dimly lit and blurred backgrounds so that you focus on how they look at each other. The entire room goes still around them. This is their moment.
Just finished rereading Kids on the Slope and I can't help but cry. Such brilliant atmosphere and melodrama. This is what I aspire my comics to look and evoke.
