King Arawn of Annwn with his good dogs.

They’re from the first branch of the Mabinogion. Annwn is sort of like another realm? Next to ours? But it might also be the afterlife? But it’s not. It’s weird to explain.

The cù-sìth is a mythological hound from Scottish folklore. A similar creature exists in Irish folklore (the cú sídhe), & it also bears some resemblance to the Welsh Cŵn Annwn. It's said those who hear it must reach safety by its third bark or risk dying of fear

Thank you for these Art Shares! I currently do a webcomic about Welsh mythology, called The Vale of Wales; about a girl who visits the realm of Annwn & has adventures with the Welsh Fae. I also do fanart and landscapes.

Been researching about folkloric creatures from the British Isles. There’s lots of dogs. The fact that Cwn Annwn are white fey dogs with red ears broke my ability to resist. English Civil War Era AU designs time, I guess.😅

In Welsh folklore, the Gwragedd Annwn are beautiful female fairies who live beneath lakes and rivers. Also known as Lake Maidens.

Gwyn ap Nudd was a Welsh Psychopomp, the king of the Tylwyth Teg (fair folk) and ruler of the Welsh Otherworld, Annwn (believed to be underneath the earth)
He is closely associated with the Wild Hunt along with his spectral hounds (the Cŵn Annwn)

My 2 afanc OCs! Afancs are water monsters from Welsh mythology! They’re very testy creatures, in that just annoying them alone can make them flood a village with their strength. And in my story, these 2 are the heads of the Monster Court of the Faerie Kingdom, Annwn.

Do the Cŵn Annwn count as characters? If so, they'd be my faves, because, y'know dogs... here's one I drew earlier...
