@elliswoodman Well if course, if we're winding back to metropolitan boroughs of old, then Battersea has a certain clarity.
You guys are amazing! Today we raised £440 for the cats and doggos at Battersea Shelter and created a wonderful chaotic masterpiece! Best birthday present ever and my day has been made!!
Day 16 of #TransportAZ and P is for pneumatic #railway a sort of Hyperloop of its day. Designed by Alfred Ely Beach's pneumatic transit, here are railways at Battersea Fields, Whitehall, New York American Institute and view of proposed railway
For our #BlackHistoryMonth series we celebrate #PatrickBarrington (1931-2020), a #Guyanese #Battersea resident, whose life was as colourful as his paintings.
A great painter living in plain sight, his work was overlooked in Britain. Let's change that.

@militaryhistori Perhaps unsurprisingly these were my favourites. The Brits' chariots were particularly evocative, as the chariot burial displayed in the museum. Nice use of the Battersea shield and helmet too, though experiment suggests they'd have been no use in actual combat! @Durotrigesdig

Ralph Anderson’s paintings bring the transient qualities of #light and the viscous nature of #paint together in works that analyse visual language and separates a painting’s component parts.

Artist Angus McBride was very fond of both the Battersea Shield and the Waterloo Helmet @britishmuseum - here king #Cassivellaunus wears them as PPE going into battle on his chariot against the legions of #Caesar in 54 BC
#FindsFriday
Writing about #Celtic art it strikes me just how often the Waterloo Helmet and Battersea Shield @britishmuseum appear in pop culture pics of the #IronAge as if they were somehow in everyday use and everyone had their own copy...
...a random thread for #FindsFriday
We're 40 today! @mexicolore first ran a school workshop on April 2nd. 1980, at #Ethelburga Primary School, Battersea, London. We've since clocked up over 3,500. Still going strong - but right now sadly on hold...
