Presenting the absolute chaos that is the transition from sketches to linework. Also some bones of non things that are perpetually in status.

Been making for many years now - the first comic project I did professionally, and the first I made longer than 6 pages. I can't look back a month without cringing - so the urge to redraw everything when I look back to early days is overpowering.

Being as is a sci-fi comic, the lion's share of the inspirations come from decidedly non-life sources. But the emotions, the conversations, the way people face trauma, love, and loyalty, those parts that shine through come from life.

Sound effects are a great tool in a creator's kit, and emblematic of the medium we all work in - visual and textual, yet sensory, all at once. If you master them, it can only make your work better. Thanks for doing this as always,

Done correctly, sound effects in "quiet" moments can really emphasize the quietness - like the sound of a pin dropping, especially if the moments are also small. Most quiet moments I've found are best served by pulling out the SFX, though.

0 3

Not all the time. As a (mostly) static and (mostly) strictly visual medium, a lot of the power of certain moments comes from readers filling in non-visual details themselves. Using SFX brings precision, but avoiding them can bring power.

I do: Observe the attached! They really add to a comic if used judiciously.

The most common one I use is Impact. It leaves an impression while not being overly intrusive - good if you're adding SFX to a page that has lots going on. I'll go fancy if the page needs though - in those moments, choosing a font is half the fun.
