Bigger Leiji-heads than myself will point you to his best anime and manga, but for me I'll just say you should check out the excellent features Arcadia of My Youth, Daft Punk collab Interstella 5555, and especially Galaxy Express 999

Just reading about the sad passing of Leiji Matsumoto - creator of a bewitching web of interconnected space operas I've just scratched the surface of, and an iconic character aesthetic that's inspired animators all over the world

From Galaxy Express 999, Albator, and Yamato to Daft Punk Interstella 5555, I love what Leiji Matsumoto bequeathed to us in terms of culture, and art inspiration for our generation.

Marking our childhood with his unique visual touch. A great loss. But forever in our minds 🕊️.

Today I got the news Leiji Matsumoto, author of Interstella 5555, one of my favorite music films from my teenager days, has died. In honor of him I decided to paint Jason and Damian like the aliens of this iconic film. Well rest, Matsumoto, you were one of the best.

Death is not the end. RIP, Leiji Matsumoto, half impressionist painter, half naval engineer. A pair of Queen Emeraldas illustrations I made, ink and red digital color.
