Speculation as to the creatures anatomy have cryptobiologists scratching their heads, arguments have broken out as to whether it is a misidentified Fresno Nightcrawler but the distinct head and torso point towards a brand new species.

New and old mutuals, what’s your pronouns? I don’t wanna misidentify anyone!

And for my pronouns, I go by She/They!

I just saw a tree misidentified in a tweet, but the thread was deleted and it’s killing me that now none of those people will know the correct identification of the tree.

I’M KIND OF A CONIFER EXPERT. JUST LOOK AT MY END PAPERS. (I am not a conifer expert.)

But who's looking & how still matters. Scholar Neil Shyminsky argues the mutant metaphor can allow dominant groups to “misidentify themselves as the Other.” Kurt epitomizes this danger; his free-floating difference is ripe for both identification & appropriation. 9/11

Also it turns out Velociraptor's iconic toe claw was originally misidentified as a hand claw. The 1920s model should look like this (more or less as there's next to no available Velo Paleoart from that time) Thx to for informing me

Galaxy/misidentification Galaxy below
Treat all objects that do not reflect light
As partners who recognize me
My rough surface does not glow with any light
Even my heart
Darkness is my best friend

When the skeleton was first described, the tracheal cartiliage was misidentified as a dorsal (=on-the-back) fringe, which you can see in CR Knight's reconstructions of Tylosaurus in the 1899 paper & accompanying FR221 on display (& 's P15144!)

Not only is this stupid because the whole point of acting is pretending to be someone you're not, but given the character's origin story they've once again misidentified a tan.

Dino Fact:

Chirostenotes (Narrow Handed) is an oviraptorid from Late Cretaceous Canada. It's had an odd history, with its feet being misidentified as a new ornithomimid and named Macrophalangia and its beak mistaken for a bird's and named Caenagnathus.

Roderick Kingsley is the Hobgoblin and I'm sick of seeing this awesome villain be misidentified as Ned Leeds.

It was just a stupid plot twist in an otherwise cool story that focused too heavily on the "mystery." https://t.co/yxe5xPbdWu

Friendtober/Monstober Owl+Long Limbs
A lot of so called "cryptid" sightings turn out to be misidentified owls. So next time you see eyes shining in the dark, or hear strange noises from the treetops, remember that it's most likely a common owl.

Long overdue hatchling page for Hellbaskers.
Self sufficient upon birth, nestlings can be encountered on their own throughout the desert. The lack of the bright colors and horns of adults leads many to misidentify them, leading to unfortunate surprises among exotic pet owners.

This catalogue is the product of multiple artists, including prolific aviation artist Richard Wong, and several others identified by their signatures as D.A. Sawyer, B. Spicer (possibly misidentified, letters difficult to make out) and S.G.H.

Continuing with my digital art, here is a demon oc of mine. His name is Stolas. In traditional demonology Stolas is depicted as an owl, the mothman was also a misidentified owl, therefore, Stolas is a mothman.
He is 250 cm tall, Chaotic Evil, and collects garbage.

Someday I'll get around to that post on high-finned sperm whales, and how they're the result of mistranslations, misidentifications, and overall taxonomic confusion.

I've been thinking about making a documentary on cryptozoology. One thing I find interesting is what can be misidentified as a paranormal creature. For instance I'm pretty sure Dogman is a bear with mange, and sea serpents are just whale penises.
