11) Crag had no say on how they were reborn. They had both been promised their own bodies before they got blown into pieces. It was hard for Crunch and Stag to get in synch enough for Crag to function. (Their eyes are also not as settled in the kid body to show this)

Crunch and Stag are both conscious soul fragments within the one soul of Crag. They can take turns being 'awake' to conserve energy or if they want to tap into one magic/emotions of one more than the other.
