One of the beauties of photo editing is that when used carefully, & with an awareness of the artist’s work, you can take an old painting & digitally removed the discolouration of yellowing varnishes & loss of depth. I’ve take a group of works by Klimt to demonstrate.

Working with a new printer on my first offset print run and it's a steep learning curve compared to Mixam. Things I've learned about this week: trapping, overprint, K 100%, output preview, CMYK profiles, custom endpapers, and spot UV varnishing. Publishing skill +1!

A bit of back and forth and we wondered if we could make this work in a different way. As either a die cut cover with an extended spread on the inside, or with a spot varnish (I still kind of like option 3 I have to say). C’mon @nikefootball 🤷♂️
While reading the book, I thought the cover painting should suggest antique Vatican art, so I chose a color scheme that hinted of age and heavy coats of varnish gone yellow.
