I love the way the Victorians conceived of witch & bat-woman attire —the 19thc had such rich histories surrounding occult hobbyists 🖤🦇#FaustianFriday

Forget current memes, @Twitter posts & viral videos – the Victorians developed an obsession with
our feline friends that rivals the modern day. Find out how the cat went from foe to furry friend in our post of Christmas Past. https://t.co/9wf0boUOv4 @SherborneMuseum #Christmas
@NinaAntonia13 I think these types of cards stemmed from the Victorians seeing Christmas as a time for fun and thrills, which ranged from telling scary stories to exchanging cards that would be silly and bizarre. All about making a friend chuckle in amused confusion
The Victorians seemed to also have a whole sub-genre of holiday & Xmas cards that just pertain to the world of cats. Fascinating! 😂 Who knew? 😼❤️❄️ #WyrdWednesday
Victorians gave us the ritual of Xmas cards. Cheaper mass printing & stamps started the craze in the mid 19thc. Many assume their odd cards were based on morbidity, but scholars feel their idea of Xmas was also more secular, ironic & funny. The joke’s on us 😂

Murdoch & News Corp are evil forces against democracy in Australia.
The implication that Victorians are facing tyranny comparable to the Tiananmen Square massacre is bloody offensive and depicting Daniel Andrews in this way equally so.

here are a few 30 minutes to 1h sketches! #digitalart #fairy #victorianstyle ? #sketches #digitalsketch #green #cat
The Victorians were besotted with Norse myths. With ascendent nationalism, the search for mythic origins fascinated them. Here are two Victorian images of Valkyrie, Odin’s female spirit helpers with strong powers, & one by Leeke of Brunhild & Odin.

It's that day of the week again where we wonder how much the Victorians censored female sculptures. It's #FannyFriday 👌

You know it’s said that historically the victorians were very enamoured with the concept of death (goddess of death mumza in Victorian attire because I can)

Pre Raphaelite artist Edward Byrne-Jones was born #OTD in 1833. Along with painting, he created tapestries, stained-glass, designed jewelry & ceramic tiles. Rejecting the world of the Victorians, he took his inspiration from Medieval art, religion, myths & legends.
In a day of SHIT-TAKES by the Herald Sun & News Corp in general, this cartoon is in Daniel Andrews' words SHITTY.
Its not funny, not politically astute, not a satirical reflection of the the issues facing Victorians, it exploits a humanitarian disaster & is offensive
