The new style was much more rounded compared to the older style which was more sharp and angular, making it stand out from other magical girl shows.

Here's a better look at ILM's triangular greeble on Mirage, plus examples of the greeble on ILM models from AOE, TLK, and Bumblebee. It makes me wonder if Mirage is a heavy retool of an older model like Dropkick or something, or if MPC somehow has access to ILM's greeble library.
