Hisuian Growlithe looks just like a komainu. Often called lion-dogs in English, are statue pairs of lion-like creatures that guard shrines. It also explains why Hisuian Growlithe is fire/rock type pokemon. I'm looking forward to seeing Hisuian Arcanine.

2nd is Arcanine. He's a big fiery tiger doggo who I will always have as my main fire type pokemon on my team. Plus the moves it can learn can be quite diverse and counter different type advantages. (example: Wild charge that help deal with water type pokemon)
