The Lovers' Chronicle 8 November - dreamin', verse by mac tag - death of Milton - birth of Bram Stoker & Margaret Mitchell - art by Charles Demuth #DonneInArte https://t.co/4ip70qD6uz
Demuth’s botanical watercolours are some of the finest of the twentieth century. Red Poppies (1929), Pears (1929), Distinguished Air (1930) & Chimney & Water Tower (1931). The sailors are looking at a sculpture of Princess X by Brâncusi
Demuth integrated the styles he had experienced in France with American realism to create unique & characteristic images of Pennsylvania. Sailboats (1919), Stairs (1920), Lancaster (1920) & the Tower (1920)
Demuth also created a series where he depicted the social life around the time of day. Dancer with Chorus (1918), Eight O Clock (1917) & Acrobats (1916)
Another influence on Demuth was Toulouse Lautrec for his circus images & Cezanne/Picasso for his architecture. The Circus (1917), Vaudeville (1917), Bermuda (1917) & At a House In Harley Street (1918)
An idea of the kind of homoerotic images Demuth created is given in his Turkish baths. Nana (1916), The Shine (1916), Turkish Baths (1916) & Trees & Houses (1916)
Demuth created a series of exquisite watercolours of fish (unfortunately I couldn’t find any well photographed examples). Nana visiting her Friend Satin (1915), Bathers (1916) & Fish (1917)
Soldiers & sailors were a particular interest in Demuth’s art. I’ve only included the family viewing versions! Zinnias (1915), The Drinkers (1915), Soldier & Girlfriend (1915) & Mt Gilboa 5 (1915)
Demuth created simple yet lyrical watercolours of his social scene. Men at Bar (1912), Girl in Red (1912), Bartender at the Breevort (1912) & White Horse (1912)
Thread: Charles Demuth (1883-1935) was an American artist who connected European modernism to the States’ art scene. He created beautiful flower paintings, striking cityscapes & pictures of his circle. He died on this day.
So there's #AF_AU tag on twitter eh?
Well time to introduce my character then. Meet Yukka! She's a gyaru girl who lives an average school life.
She's a thalassocnus, a species of marine sloth. (pic right belongs to Oliver Demuth)

Shana Tovah to those celebrating Rosh Hashanah this evening! We wish everyone a Happy New Year and sweeter days ahead.
