When I commissioned this from , I had no idea how popular it would get. I also had no idea the amount of fatphobia it would trigger. I've seen so many threads erupt into utter cruelty, all because I wanted to see my cosplay self depicted in a comic style.

Coming back to the laughter. I often ask myself: Why is it funny? We see sexualised female bodies everywhere. Why is the same approach towards male bodies amusing?
(Also, why this picture of "fat Thor" funny? But the fatphobia is another dimension entirely..)

Fatphobia is a form of bigotry that equates fatness w ugliness, inferiority & immorality. It enables & justifies hostility & marginalization of fat people.

This stigma leads to depression & anxiety,as well as decreased access to employment,friendship, romantic opportunities etc.

fat people not being your "aesthetic" is just an excuse to assuage your guilt from not tackling your own internalized fatphobia, and also a way to reassure yourself that you're not a bad artist for being unable to draw more diverse body types.

One complaint I have about Arthur and The Square Knights is the inevitable offensive jokes of the 60's, like racism, sexism, and shown here, fatphobia. So I took the liberty of well...changing that. I wanted to make them cute and/or pretty while keeping some stylistic things :)
