This supernova shock wave plows through interstellar space at over 500,000 km per hour. Near the middle and moving up in this sharply detailed color composite, thin, bright, braided filaments are actually long ripples in a cosmic sheet of glowing gas https://t.co/xaEJYUozO8

I will have at least one more coming very shortly. But these all are fdm friendly, bow prints separate so you can print any size and color. They look great in silky filaments like (more pics in comments)

i love the aesthetic of neck gills but think ribs are more likely. THOUGH in the spiderwick fieldguide theres a Pacific Sea-Maid whose hair is external gill filaments which i thought was fascinating!! (the illust field guide was 200% formative for me so i am somewhat biased)

Eyyy thanks! I've only experimented with speen filaments a few other times recently but I'd like to do it more often. I'm not convinced they were super fluffy but a few here and there for extra display probably couldn't hurt.

After hearing about the new cretaceous compsognathid on the block I immediately had to doodle it.
Ubirajara jubatus sports some pretty weird filaments, probably for display.
Tried to somewhat evoke the style of old bird illustrations.

Ubirajara is the new theropod on the block, so I made a gif showing off it using its weird filaments as a mating/threat display

The new compsognathid Ubirajara jubatus from the Crato Fm. of Brazil has some insane filaments!

Here's Xela without all that glowy stuff!

His markings resemble lightning bolts, with hurricane symbols on the shoulders. The outlines glow with energy.
His eyes have swirling filaments of energy inside that rotate around.
I decided on the red/fuscia tipped hair!

The Wirebug filaments can make use of any particular weapon and its specific traits for special attacks known as a "Silkbind attacks."

Each weapon has multiple kinds of Silkbind attacks, some using one Wirebug gauge, and some using two gauges.

The gill detail is spectacular on this creature, with a rosy hue to the filaments.

I decided to draw an evolutionary timeline for the species my sona belongs to + a couple of transitional forms on the side. Close-ups below.

All except the 1st & last are covered in very short filaments.

Few years back, attempted a redo of it. It's definitely an improvement in skill but anatomically sucks as well, albeit to a lesser extent.
This time, the "wings" are two rows of bristles. Bristles which are found in its only closest relative to preserve filaments: Psittacosaurus

from the lab | a render of generated, speculative submarine life : generated specimen of coral becomes home to bacterial filaments, conducive to nourishment and growth despite shifting surroundings

Life reconstruction of Squirmivermis filocordis, based on Illfelder et al (1973). The filaments are not hair but a parasitic mould similar to Saprolegnia.

But Spinosaurs are the one group that I’m convinced may have shed their fuzz almost entirely. Their bone-centric display structures and aquatic lifestyles didn’t really have room for any wispy simple filaments that may have gotten in the way of their obvious hydrodynamism.

Quick sketch of lapparenti during a misty morning, with some speculative filaments and a fanciful head crest.

Given the uncertain position for Megaraptorans in the theropod family tree, I added some feathers. Either it's a reduced basal coelurosaurian/tyrannosauroid feather coat or it's speculative filaments developed in derived allosauroids, take yer pick
