Kind of odd for me to acknowledge Poc since he's rarely seen here but heyho

I think he'd probably be extremely mellow as an adult, kind of guy that lives life at his own pace. He wouldnt particularly be prioritising anything competitive like pokemon gyms and the leagues.

Actually, I believe they kept the more than 8 gyms a region thing canon. Most, if not all generations have a point where you see a rivals gym badge case and they have badges that don't exist in game. (And Unova they just take advantage of the more than 8 canon gyms)
