Fun with heraldry assets by @Caeora! Yes, I could draw my own, but sometimes you just want to plunk things down and colour. Also, my tablet broke while I was working on this. Time to upgrade to a Cintiq. #Cartography #FantasyMap
1000 years ago (2018?) I made little notebook covers based on Merrill's sylvanwood ring & the Dalish heraldry then immediately forgot about it—

#InternationalHeraldryDay The West Point Coat of Arms was first approved on Oct. 8, 1898. In 1923, the design was modified. (see thread for the modifications) Older versions of the Coat of Arms can be seen, carved into buildings. (note - they weren't all consistent) 🧵
Today is #InternationalHeraldryDay and the Heraldry Society is taking the opportunity to refresh its branding with digital versions of its armorial achievement kindly produced by @digitalheraldry. Here is our heraldic badge which features on our Social Media accounts.

Heraldry has meaning. After the Battle of Teba in 1330 (James Douglas throwing King Robert's heart). The Bruce heart badge was added to the Douglas heraldry to remember this event and scare their enemies because of their fame in combat.
Happy #AfricaDay! Africa is home to many wonderful and unique heraldic styles that take influence from both European and indigenous artistic traditions. Pictured are the unique arms of Kenya, Lesotho, Seychelles, and South Africa, just a small portion of the continent's heraldry.

Dragonborn houses deal with heraldry in a more aspirational way, in following an dragon they believe themselves to be metaphysically akin to based on their ideals and coloration. A whole family may declare themselves noble and descendants of a particular ancient wyrm.
Gnomish houses tend to be more function over form regarding their heraldry, with notable inventions of the house dominating the themes, particularly with Rock Gnomes of noble houses. Forest Gnome nobles tend to follow elven customs in regard to their house crests.
Dwarven noble houses are geometric, angular art deco designs with clan emblems or notable ancestors depicted. Shields for commercial sale are typically just geometric shapes. Heraldry isnt as much of a thing, as a clans design style is considered its coat of arms.
