Storm 2 of 2 for #MuseumsUnlocked Day122 #Storms: a sublime and picturesque Brighton storm, by none other than JMW Turner. One of very few pictures by him showing the Royal Pavilion. He probably sketched this in 1824 from a boat off the Chain Pier (see Storm 1) @BrightonMuseums

A gorgeous watercolour and pencil drawing of Rochester Castle by Thomas Girtin (1775-1802). JMW Turner was greatly saddened by his early death and regarded him as his only equal.

This 1792 painting by JMW Turner is an evocative and highly romanticised depiction of the Avon Gorge. The building atop the gorge is the 1766 built Clifton Observatory. At this time it was a former windmill which was damaged in a storm. #Bristol

Today, JMW Turner. He got me started with watercolors, with the 1st pic below. Top of the heap, watercolor magician!
I did this painting last year for a publication called ‘Paint like the Masters’ where I was demonstrating the techniques of JMW Turner.
