I don’t keep much of my process, so it might not be very helpful, but I draw pretty much like other illustrators!
I start by roughly sketching the shape, add basic shading, then refine the details until it’s complete!
the circles follow the butt shape and very carefully drawn, also the handle on top it also follows the perspective rules, its insanely underwhelmed when you see at the head of the hammer below, look how it is very detailed they are, you know which button looks which way!

2. The head shape *can* work in 3d and has worked in 3d for both classic and modern.

@FlameZ_yuh @_sobii Don't let em convince you that you're wrong. Knuckles still keeps similar shape language from SA1/2 to Riders. Even Battle, which is way more out there artistically, keeps this in mind.
It's not an issue with stylization, it's just a misconception from the modeler's part.
