This isn't the biggest thing, but a small thing that I do sometimes is I tend to give characters who are either more tough/mean, energetic, or chaotic more spikier ear fluffs, and the more kind, calmer, or nicer characters more rounded ear fluffs.

See it’s also funny cause a lot of the spikier monsters in Frontier have explanations for why they have them. Hyujikiki (hedgehog wyvern) for example has them as an evolutionary response to predation by Poborubarumu (big whale wyvern).
