Chalicotherium looked like a cross between a horse and a gorilla, but was neither! Though related to the former, these bizarre knuckle-walking animals were probably closer to tapirs and rhinos (whom are also related to horses!).

Drowzee is based on the tapir! More specifically, the baku, a spirit that takes a form resembling a tapir & eats nightmares. This is referenced by Drowzee's attack Dream Eater. Tapirs have a long prehensile snout, which they use to strip leaves off of branches AND as a snorkel :)

Yep, this is a rhino. The amynodonts were hornless rhinos that resembled tapirs and hippos. This is Cadurcotherium, the last of the amynodonts, surviving for millions of years after all its relatives were gone.
