The artist is always the servant, and is perpetually trying to pay for the gift that has been given to him as if by a miracle. Modern man, however, does not want to make any sacrifice, even though true affirmation of the self can only be expressed in sacrifice.

Stalker (1979).
Unha película de ciencia ficción con soviéticos filosofando ✨👌. Sempre trae moi bos exemplos de composición.

Esto estaba planeado para ser terminado en un día. Casi una semana dibujando rusos calvos fue suficiente.

14. Memory is not helping but I'd say Annihilation. The book's main ingredients are disorientation and the unsaid, the movie is a CGI fest that didn't really dare to go there. Watch instead Tarkovsky's Stalker (from a similar book, Roadside Picnic—which I still have to read).

“The longer I work in cinema the more convinced I am that this domain of art is not ruled by any laws. I do not even attempt to find them. Everything is possible.”

Today we at A Fistful of Film honor the great Russian director Andrei Tarkovsky on his birthday!

A progenitor of slow cinema, Andrei Tarkovsky–born 1932–developed a theory of film that he called 'sculpting in time'. His films are characterised by metaphysical themes, extremely long takes, & images of exceptional beauty.
