🔬 Adenomatoid tumour

➡️ Adrenal gland = rare but well-described site

I thought the gross image was interesting as at a more common site (eg paratestis) probably everyone would guess adenomatoid

➡️well-circumscribed mass, tan/yellow solid cut surface

Today’s prompt was, PICNIC. In 2014, our beautiful girl, Daisy, developed a large, inoperable tumour. It came so quickly and her health deteriorated within a week. We were able to have one last perfect day in Banff with a picnic in the park.

Whether you have a faith, or just cross your fingers, on Tuesday my sister is scheduled for a major (7 hour) op, to remove a tumour and ‘replumb’ her digestive system. With the current crisis, she feels she can’t make a fuss but can I ask a few of you to pray. Thanks 🙏

A little doodle of Professor Moustache as a scientist. I was a bit inspired of one of the covers from the official books.

I just got an email from a 73 year old guy in Illinois, who, due to a brain tumour reads at a younger level. He adores Horace & Harriet, has bought them in three languages and wants more. What a brilliant, brilliant Friday email 💛

I just realized the three tumours make up the Rich, Beautiful, and Smart holy trinity we all want in life, no wonder they're cancer, the stress of being judged by the three of them at once together is too much

- a type of brain tumour that develops from star-shaped cells called astrocytes. That led me to the idea of the tumour as a crashed ship from the stars... From my illustrated ddx series fuelled by coffee from my wonderful Patrons: https://t.co/VoNbSWySBV

John Knowsley Thornton (1845-1904) was a Scottish surgeon and the first to perform an adrenalectomy, in 1889. His patient was a 35 year old woman with hirsutism. The operation was a success (the tumour weighed 20 lbs!) but the patient died 2 years later due to recurrence.
