can we talk about how a few months ago Uekawa remastered one of his older pieces to look more like his current work? perhaps he prefers the new look
Trying out uekawa sonic for the first time.... I'm not sure if I succeeded.....

Guys, send me pics of Yuji Uekawa styled Sonic and I’ll try redrawing them in my style. I’ll take a few.
If Sonic Adventure 3 ever did happen then Yuji Uekawa has to be the characters artist! Adventure games just aren't Adventure games without Uekawa's charm ✨️
Me personally Yuji Uekawa earlier and current art will always hold a special place in my heart
@vertekins I honestly prefer Stanley's artstyle tbh it adds a certain charm to Silver that I really like as well as offers more perspective on his personality, plus you showed all the panels where he's just being a dork, he looks a little closer to Uekawa's Silver during action shots
i love how yuji uekawa’s style has evolved man
i know many people don’t, but me personally? i love it. i find it very nice!
i hope one day we get a game again with uekawa art as the boxart. i’d be curious to see how this style would look like for boxart for the games.
I love Uekawa’s 2021 style, the thin lines make it feel really anime to me
IDW!Silver as drawn by Stanley is extremely OoC and off-model expression-wise. Note the images below - When Silver is drawn in-character and on-model by Uekawa or Karasuno, his eye shape and mouth stay on-model even if he's happy. Stanley!Silver is a mangling of the character. https://t.co/xNuGdMBk17
@ReploidREVO More likely is because current art is so "on-shape" and less "dynamic", older art shows how much experiments were done with the artstyle until it evolved to what currently is used, just like how Yuji Uekawa's style evolved when drawing sonic, that's the only example I can give
Now I'm debating if I should do this drawing as the following (1/2):
1.- render the classic versions with the lineless art style of the classic games and the modern ones the Uekawa art style
2.- do all the characters in the Uekawa art style
3.- Just use my art style https://t.co/IwIMz6v6pm
Looking at my older attempts at replicating Uekawa’s style made me realise that these were UGLY AF lol
Though it is nice to see how far I’ve come.
Here’s a mini Uekawa inking/shading tutorial for anyone curious as to how I do my Adventure stuff! This was originally going to be more detailed but I have 0 time haha

i made,, made a thing for my lil guy @marineyshark i like uekawa art style it fun
Even though "cuteness" wasn't Uekawa-san's intention, Sonic still has that level of cuteness to him along with his radical cool teenage attitude.
I personally think the SA1 model is still cute in ways.

Cool ≠ cute ? So he can't be both? He just have to be RADICAL?
I think it's just the style of the person who draws him. Every style it's different even if they have some similarities (like Oshima's & Tyson's styles or Karasuno's & Uekawa's). https://t.co/RtUUL1kTDy
The times were different back then, what looks cute to us now looked cool back then and when the times changed, Sonic also changed amping his coolness up to 11 with the Uekawa redesign
