On this date in 1791 Boukman Dutty and Cécile Fatiman led a mass meeting that inaugurated the Haitian Revolution. Haitian artist Jean Richard Coachy's “Ceremonie au Bois Caïman” sees the event through the descending vodou lwa (spirits) .

in my reimagining of andros, i forgot to include that androsians practice the african vodou religion and mainly the worship of mami wata, mermaid deity of the sea. i also wanted to base their architecture on a west african culture but couldn't find a specific one.
