On this date in 1791 Boukman Dutty and Cécile Fatiman led a mass meeting that inaugurated the Haitian Revolution. Haitian artist Jean Richard Coachy's “Ceremonie au Bois Caïman” sees the event through the descending vodou lwa (spirits) . #historyfrombelow
An interpretation of Aïda-Wedo of Haitian Vodou. Iconography with a sprinkling of inspiration from other places. It’s also a backdrop tapestry for themasterstailor. I’m back to doing new #Illustrations and made soutache brushes while at it
If you have an interest in Vodou or African Traditional Religions in the New World, and/or amazing paperback covers you need to get yourself over to this new catalogue @MrMidian because I suspect this collection is going to sell quickly!

in my reimagining of andros, i forgot to include that androsians practice the african vodou religion and mainly the worship of mami wata, mermaid deity of the sea. i also wanted to base their architecture on a west african culture but couldn't find a specific one.

In Haitian Vodou, Maman Brigitte is wife of Baron Samedi, the loa who leads the spirits of the dead to the beyond, to find peace and rest. She curses wickedly and has a taste for rum, and the rooster is her symbol, yet she is compassionate. #FairyTaleTuesday

If you love my art you’re gonna really love my new Haitian Vodou tarot deck I just released https://t.co/9qvToOIdJu 🖤
I announced on Instagram ages ago that I was working on designing my own Haitian Vodou tarot deck series featuring the loa (gods) of the culture and religion. It’s finally come to fruition after months of planning 😤😤 this is my absolute fucking FAVORITE card so far...
#VoiceTheFursona Mojo, my undead, Vodou practicing, “I‘ll help you if the price is right” cat would be voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson. Moj has a distinct but bizarre accent/drawl that I can’t quite put a finger on, but the actor’s voice is *perfect*. (Art by @MightyWalross )
