In heaven above, and earth below,
They best can serve true gladness
Who meet most feelingly
The calls of sadness.

Christmas Day 2021 is the 250th anniversary of the birth of the wonderful #DorothyWordsworth, and it’s been lovely to mark it today by visiting @WordsworthGras’ special exhibition.

FUN FACT:
John Marshall (1765-1845) married in 1795, Jane Pollard (1770-1847) from Halifax. They lived in Leeds and then Hallsteads. Jane was a lifelong friend of Dorothy Wordsworth's, but I haven't seen any evidence Anne Lister knew or mentioned these women in her journals.
On the day of the 'lunar' day of the week:
Frank Dicksee's 'The Moon Maiden' (1923) for #MagicMonday. Accompanied by Wordsworth’s poem ‘Nutting':
‘Then, dearest Maiden, move along these shades.
In gentleness of heart; with gentle hand,
Touch - for there is a spirit in the woods.’
I decided for the remainder of November I will try and draw an obscure cartoon character from across the pond in the UK, and here is todays doodle, Jamie and Wordsworth from Jamie and the Magic Torch, it's like Winnie the Pooh meets Alice in Wonderland.
