@SpiritusNox15 Well, he executed General Zod and co. in the 1980s, killed Doomsday and 'deactivated' (ahem) Cyborg Superman in the 90s... and seemed to kill Zod in Superman II. I think it's why Man of Steel didn't bother me in the slightest - I'd seen it all before.
Val Zod is such a special Superman. He was send to Earth in a capsule but he stayed inside for too long so he developed a fear of being in big spaces. This is a real condition called Agoraphobia. He is a pacifist and has to deal with his fears to be a hero.
