Ended up being good practice. I am proud of my lineart, but I want to get out of my comfort zone in my drawing method, even if it takes more time.

What I try is... Use the rule of "big, medium and small" pieces. The silhoutte is not only the general shape, inside the character there are more, these we can't see. And other advice is... "Broke the silhoutte", try that the contour is not flat lines, but that there are breaks.

I LOVED the colors in KOF XII! They did this really cool thing where they'd occasionally super-saturate the edge of certain shadows and contours. Look at Ash's face, hair, and even his 2 pixel wide fingers and how they have this beautiful sub surface scattering effect to em!

Anime style art tends to do hair highlights in a crown pattern along the forehead, there are a lot of different styles in terms of shapes and patterns. I'm just not good at making the right shapes or following the contour of the head in a way that looks good
