The shine of the Northern Lights against the night sky reminds me of the blue shine on Microraptor’s black feathers! We know what colours this little flyer was thanks to pigment proteins preserved in its feathers; and what a gorgeous dino it was, gliding with four wings!

You *are* too fluffy for your own good, so you get to be a fluffy dino! Meet Sinosauropteryx! This tiny relative of Compsognathus lived in the Early Cretaceous, and thanks to fossilized pigmentation proteins found in its floofy feathers, we can know what colour it was!
