I freaking love 's Dragonball fanart.
It's completely different from Toriyama's style but still feels nostalgic.

Toriyama's CD of Bonyu for the "Goku Experience Action RPG" (2020/01/16)

She's described as a former Ginyu Special Squadron member, departing the faction due to her distaste of posing. It's also said she's from the same planet as Jheese.

(It's because she's red, isn't it?)

Toriyama's monster design of Chimera for "Dragon Quest" (1986/05/27)

The base idea of combining genes f/ several organisms sticks. What made this variant popular derives from its strange charm as a reptilian bird, an outcry from the monstrosities chimera are usually depicted as.

2018 vs 2020!
Back when I couldn't QUITE match up with Toriyama's style so I'd just draw them my own way.

I mean, I still do that now, but it's closer to Dragon Ball than it was before. Just a tiny bit. Like 3%.

And it's also the closest to Toriyama's version

Toriyama's image board interpretation of the decisive battle against the Demon King in Chrono Trigger (1995/03/11)

Once more demonstrating adept application of perspective to depict realistic-in-fantasy imagery, one cant help feel excitement f/ even glimpses of dramatic moments.

Been wanting to draw Goku for a while so here he is! I tried to stick to Toriyama's earlier style, and gave Goku his DB anime colors.

Base Goku's pose is taken from Naohiro Shintani's character sheet from the Broly movie. Enjoy!

The spirits of my farmer ancestors possessed me and made this.
I got a big farm family vibe from the Clays and I was inspired by Akira Toriyama's amazing car drawings with like Goku in them, so voila!

Finally done with this Marsolo drawing. Actually, I finished two days ago.

I tried to make the shading similar to Toriyama's DBZ manga.
Commissions will open in March!

It also started a decades-long practice of trying to steer away from Toriyama's art. Even when Enix US started embracing their game's style in the late 90s, they still often eschewed 2D art in favor of clunky 3D game covers, a longstanding Western tradition.

Toriyama's cover for WSJ, No. 36-37 (1991/08/13)

Son Goku is depicted dreadfully dashing towards a confrontation with No. 19 & 20. The issue contains DB's 337th chapter, ft. both full & limited color pages. It seems he intended to imprint a grand impression for the merger issue.

It's pretty inconsistent and Toriyama's use of black makes it appear like it's a one piece(similar to Goku's hair shirt and belt, but it's a two piece just like when he trained with Trunks.

Some of my favourite pages. Toriyama's layouts are next level.

Yeah, maybe the Bad Promo Artist was given the instruction to be close to the Kanzenban cover. It's like a downgraded version of Toriyama's drawing

if you want to know what really inspired me to get into art, it was toriyama's work on chrono trigger & whoever did the art for chrono cross, i think it was nobuteru yuki?

Toriyama's 2016 (?!) CD of U4's Destroyer God Quitela from Dragon Ball Super

「ビルスとの大きさの対比」/ [Qui's] size compared to Beerus (SN: They get along like cats and dogs)

Despite holding a lovable, mousey smile, his grin shadows unimaginable terror one expects from a god!

Toriyama CDs of the "Asobinin"/Reprobate class in Dragon Quest 3 (1988/02/10)

Today is the game's 32nd birthday! Of the vocations featured, the idea of basing an entire archetype around luck-based, foolishly playful rascals would only come from Toriyama's sensibilities~

Read Dragon Ball Culture Volume 2 to learn about the full cultural origins of Bulma, Goku, Oolong, Yamcha, Roshi, Pilaf, Mai, Shu, Shenron, and more. You'll gain a thorough understanding of the culture in every panel and page of Toriyama's masterpiece. https://t.co/4dbXYVjDBe

Toriyama's updated CD of Hero for Dragon Quest 7's 3DS remake (2013/02/07)

His notable, invigorating smile just amps the player towards a dungeon crawling mood, doesn't it? It's a defining characteristic carried throughout both interpretations, indeed.
