Ok folks I find myself in the strange position of doing a character design for me, and I need help with the beard. Which is working best? (Period-correct beard photo included for reference)

Every couple of years MitterMak gets a pretty drastic redesign, most recently when I changed how I style my hair and grew a beard. I've been tweaking the new look for about a year now but I think I've finally more or less got a lock on it.
