Oh yeah, general rules of thumb for me are thin lines, no samey shapes and/or character sizes, and eyes and mouths are much larger by default, makes expressions easier to push!

Hilariously enough, their images are different sizes, thus, you can’t do anything about their heights if you decide to draw them, but I will acknowledge that in the next part of this thread.

For smaller sprites, my method is to make a big sketch and shrink it down.

Make sure to shrink the head and body separately. With such small sizes, the proportions should be somewhat chibi-fied. That's so it's easier to see.

Also make sure to emphasize on a character's features
