I love animated shows and films, but I also grew up on Internet Flash Animation. With support for Flash unfortunately ending this year, we can't forget the impact these independent animators had.

I'll always firmly assert that animation is *not* a genre. Just like live action, it's an art medium used for storytelling. You can have a comedic animation, or a dramatic animation... but you can't have an animated animation. That's just silly... and redundant.

I went through that middle-school phase where I thought I had to "grow out" of animation.

I was happily wrong.

Now I enjoy everything from children's cartoons to gory anime to art films. Because no matter who it's for, beauty is universal.
