I’ve been advocating actively about not erasing his hearing loss in the comics and current creative teams all have him as deaf, wearing a hearing aid, and using sign. It’s beyond disappointing that they won’t use that in the movies and show.

This issue goes a lot heavier on the high-school than the horror, but there are a few moment that suggest how the latter might come out in future issues. These lines of dialogue definitely feel like a statement of intent, pointing to a Buffy-style 'high school is hell' approach.
