I like what you did with the hair, it's not too out of place with Tails, however, I feel like the goatee should be slightly reworked because the clearly visible beard kinda clashes with his existing fur. Attached is a quick sketch of what I have in mind,

Also my funniest piece of trivia about his name is that it was just meant to be a placeholder name. The earliest known concept art of him simply says 'protagonist', with "The name 'Rance' sucks, we should rework it." in brackets underneath. They never did.
