I used to dislike all of the SS/CS designs, but over time I grew to prefer almost all of them.

The few TTYD/SPM designs I still enjoy more are Boo and Koopa Troopa.

I think the CS/SS designs could be a bit more cartoony and saturated though. Other than that I prefer most.

I think it was who suggested the idea that sentient species of Koopa don’t grow shells, but wear them. I’ve kind of warmed up to the idea, especially since it explains many of the visuals in the Super Mario World gameplay. Here is a very quick concept doodle.
