Daily Practice and Warmup! ⠀
I am experimenting with different painting techniques to make as many mistakes as possible. So with time, I can expand my skill set and be more efficient with my brushwork!

An abstract environment sketch I did a couple of days ago. The goal with this was to mess around some more with brushwork and color, something I've been working on a lot lately.

Our dept has bi-weekly drawing prompts, and our latest is "Nightmares". Usin' this as an excuse to play with contrast and loose brushwork, mostly on one layer with color grading.. Nice to paint something that's not under NDA 😅 (I do actually produce art sometimes, I swear!)

We are over the moon to have new works from Derek Fitzpatrick. Derek's deep and expressive brushwork allow you to almost get lost in his canvases. Available to view on https://t.co/4eqTuQwAj1 and here at 17 Duke Street.

Many of Breitner’s Amsterdam Paintings date from the early 20th C. They show a movement from Impressionism to a more expressive liberal use of paint. Self-portrait, Marie Breitner & Nude with Black Stockings. The latter is a sumptuous use of brushwork

is intense up close or far away. His sensitivity to texture & brushwork is best enjoyed inches from the surface whereas his rich color orchestrations can only be appreciated from several feet away from the canvas. Close or far his work delivers maximum power to viewers.

The 1640s saw a loosening of Reni’s brushwork & a more spiritual tone to his work where expression is heightened to the divine. Blessed Soul (1640-2) combines metaphysics, male nudity & emotion. Lucretia (1640-2) & Cleopatra (1640) show strong women in charge

What is a "proper art study?". Take these 2 for example (sorry for the boobies!).
1st is just a copy of reality (an attempt to understand it) without experimenting. Boring.

2nd shows first timid tries to express oneself. Plus, I worked on improving my technique, and brushwork✌
