Eddilig the Dwarf is mentioned in various Welsh lists of King Arthur's warriors. He is a shapeshifter, one of Arthur's three wizard-warriors (along with Menw and Tristan). It is unclear whether Eddilig's title means he was simply a short man or actually a fairy.

#FairyTaleTuesday - King Arthur was linked to Tintagel Castle in the 12th century when Geoffrey of Monmouth named it as a place, where Arthur was conceived. Legend says that the infant Arthur was thrown by the waves on the beach by Merlin's cave.

In the earliest stories, Morgan Le Fay is a benevolent healer... but somehow over time (*patriarchy*), her story becomes that of an evil (and fascinating) seductress. #FairyTaleTuesday https://t.co/IiXG1FHJr5
A storm was coming, but the winds were still,
And in the wild woods of Broceliande,
Before an oak, so hollow, huge and old
It looked a tower of ivied masonwork,
At Merlin's feet the wily Vivien lay.

Baba Yaga is probably the most famous being from Slavic lore, she is a powerful old witch who flies with a mortar and pestle and lives in a hut on giant chicken legs. She is vain and cruel, but curious by nature and may help those who treat her with respect.

Percival was the original hero in the quest for the Grail but (according to wikipedia) replaced in later literature by Galahad. (Am not an Arthurian expert so was interested to discover this nugget of info)

Beautiful, alluring, the witchy, enchantress Morgan le Fay is both a healer & wise woman. In Arthurian legend she was, initially, a kind character & protector of King Arthur. As legends developed, so too did the unpredictable duality of her nature.

Later, when he was wounded in battle, he called for his former lover & asked that the ship set white sails if she came and black if she didn’t. When the ship returned bearing white sails, his wife told him they were black in a fit of jealously.

The legend of Tristan and Isolde is a tale of undying love. The forbidden love between Cornish knight Tristan and Irish princess Isolde, is so strong it transcends all boundaries, and neither marital commitments nor rivalling kingdoms can keep them apart.

In Arthurian legend Guinevere is an early medieval queen of Great Britain and King Arthur’s wife. Her love affair with Lancelot, one of Arthur's bravest knights would lead to the death of Arthur and destroy the fellowship of the Knights of the Round Table.
I know #FairytaleTuesday is hosting Arthurian legends today, and I can't help but bust out my collection of medieval art that makes no sense.

Merlin the Wizard is based upon the real life Welsh bard Myrddin Wyllt ("Myrddin the Wild"). After witnessing the bloody Battle of Arfderydd, Myrddin went insane and fled to the forest. There he communicated with animals and received the gift of prophecy.

In 'The Emperor's New Clothes' by Hans Christian Andersen, it is a child who states the truth about the Emperor being naked. No adult has the nerve to say it.
