John Rennie's Waterloo Bridge opened #onthisday 1817. We were given one of the stones from the bridge when it was dismantled to make way for the modern bridge in the 1930s/40s.

John Rennie's Southwark Bridge opened #onthisday 1819. Originally called Queen Street bridge, the centre span was said to be the longest cast iron span ever built, at 240ft (73m). It was replaced in 1921 as it was too narrow to cope with the growing traffic.
