En 1986 Ginga Nagareboshi Gin es adaptado a serie de anime por Toei Animation y En 1987 gana el Premio Manga Shogakukan para shōnen manga.
Empezó a publicar la secuela Ginga Densetsu Weed en 1999, y tuvo también mucho éxito de manera que contó con un anime emitido en 2005.
