Como vemos en la T2, algo sucedió, o algo hicieron los malos para atrapar a Fred y a Joy en las sombras. Pero lo que estaba capturado en realidad eran PARTES de un personaje y no el personaje completo, Fred como Shadow y Joy como Persona, mientras la otra parte estaba afuera.

Las primeras dos canciones hablan de cómo Fred es sólo la representación de lo que Freddy es aunque no quiera. Él lo dice, y varias veces en la serie hace énfasis en el hecho de que son una sola persona. Son como el ying y el yang, parte de un todo más grande que ellos.
