1918年のこの日、富山県魚津町の漁師の主婦ら数十人が米の県外への積み出しを止めて、地元住民に販売するよう集団運動を起こし、この運動は全国にまで広がり、米騒動となった。

17th July 1918, during its trip to Boston, the Carpathia (rescue ship of was torpedoed by the German submarine U-55. She sank off the Irish coast. The sinking causes 5 victims and the 215 survivors (including 57 passengers) are saved by the HMS Snowdrop.
