Kazuki Takahashi created the greatest Trillionaire (yes even richer than Batman) with Seto Kaiba, the guy took over a weapons company & made it a card game company, his rivalry with Yugi & Atem goes so deep, he uses his tech to go to the afterlife to duel Atem as he wants to win

I think for me it’s Yugi and Atem, I always saw myself in Yugi and as I grow up I hope to become confident as Atem. I always loved the Dark Magician archetype to the point that while I no longer play yugioh I always have my Dark Magician Deck.

Kaiba vs Yugi III (OG, Episode 129)

3 is the magic number here as Kaiba and Yugi have a multi-part intense duels with tons of counter-plays, drama, revelations and a just plain grand scale to it. It almost makes Yugi's duel with Marik later seem like small potatoes.

Still one of his greatest posts of all time was when he drew art of Yugi, Dark Magician Girl and Dark Magician encouraging the people of Japan to vote while condemning Shinzo Abe and his administration. He later apologized for politicizing his characters but left the post up.

Lastly of course, his characters and stories were always the cornerstone of it all

His writing was always clever and at times even legit touching

Giving the gentle hearted little Yugi the stern strength to stand on his own was inspirational to me

This may be very Weeb of me but I always loved the Interaction between Yugi,especially Atem with D. Magician Girl (aka Mana back from her Egyptian Lifetime).It really showed the Importance & Emotion of Connecting ones "Deck" with the User,making it more just simply a Card Game...

Takahashi definitely created a lot of chars that ended up going on my all time faves list.

But perhaps none I love more than Jounouichi/Joey. This dude went from bully to Yugi's truest ride-or-die, as well as from bottom tier duelist to no. 3, and I really loved that shit.
