It was the same artist that also showed Ofanimon's true face. According to them, when it's a new Digimon, or it's an aspect of the Digimon, that will first appear not in the official artwork, they need to follow strict guidelines sketches.

And that is how the things are, of course, this is mostly just different people with their own takes on how to design a Digimon, but I find it interesting how at least within some settings, that is just a reflection of something that does exist in-universe.

And Watanabe has a very distinct look that reflects a lot of his ideas for what a Digimon should look like, like the various belts that he puts in Digimon, that would reflect in various Digimon with "Death-X-DORUgoramon" being basically made of belts.
