In fairness, that's one thing they kept accurate from the books. The reason it looks so uncanny is that in the books his mouth and teeth were also huge anyway, he didn't have to stretch his face like that, just unhinge his jaw.

THE WICKER MAN 1973 directed by Robin Hardy is a perfect horror film. Quietly perverse with bagfulls of off kilter characters including Christipher Lee skipping along in a Cher wig & dress. It balances hilarity & the uncanny brilliantly. Folk horror at it's best.
