I love how old Ken Sugimori art really depicts these disproportionate children battling lol. I also love how the open pokeballs are just cracked in half.

This Ken Sugimori artwork was featured on the Japan-exclusive Carddass collectible card set, circa 1997. Backgrounds photoshopped out and replaced them with white.

Want to highlight how the trainer designs have matured with Sword & Shield (Go incl. as 2019 Sugimori design). Characters are far more stylish and modern. There are Pokémon touches—flattening, rounding, bright colours to cutify/simplify—but they could almost exist in our world.
