One of my favorite projects is the series of charts that I started doing as a fun experiment and turned into a big (and ongoing) collection. I show very roughly how some animal groups evolved over time by showcasing a few milestone species.

Last but not least, another more basal member of the group: Barytherium. Rendered here basically as a realistic version of the Pokémon "Drowzee" https://t.co/TKQ0FPstoH

My most detailed entry into the Proboscidea series was the American mastodon. I painted as much of the fur as possible. https://t.co/PhJrTVUk21

Palaeoloxodon falconeri is a great example of the crazy size disparity that can occur within the same genus. I didn't know this extreme was possible for mammals https://t.co/x52Tj8s0aH

Aaand the biggest proboscidean ever, the massive Palaeoloxodon namadicus. This one I can really hear the elephant-like rumble every time I look at it. https://t.co/rL3HgZ2cs0

Essentially, I recolored those x-ray images as if we were looking at the fishes in their natural habitat. Then provided the code that let me upload two images on top of each other so the viewers can compare both images.

I'm terrified that we're causing a serious, if veiled, environmental collapse for the past few decades. But I admit I'm fascinated by the concept of a natural apocalypse and mass extinctions. Here's my take on some of them from our past

Day 5 of is a cartoon teaser by a new artist on our team, Jacinta (). Leonardo da Vinci, famously known as a painter, produced remarkable drawings of human anatomy and the brain! New cartoon posted next week

Imaging is making it easier to see the beauty in anatomy and whether its our carpal tunnel (stippling joke!), a xiphisternal flare of a pangolin tongue or the shadowy underpinnings of flight. Sometimes I think its making us lazier, letting machines draw for us.
