When the aztecs sacrifice me
1325–1521 Aztec tribes ended the ruling Toltec power and in 1325 founded Tenochtitlán (now Mexico City). Aztecs were Natives rich with gold and silver, and medicinal skills.
They composed poetry and music.
Also they were surgeons, arquitects, scientist astronomers and artists.
There are always mythical omens before the downfall of an ancient empire, but a few "omens" the Aztec experienced were based on actual phenomenons. In 1509, a comet was observed and recorded by Aztecs. Did it have anything to do with Spaniards arriving ten years later? Umm...no.
Opinion:
the Tlaxcallans were the real "Aztecs"!
They are often depicted as more proudly wearing the heron-bird of "Aztlan" on their headdresses, proudly calling out their origins from "Aztlan" ("Place of the watery fowl").
I haven't seen depictions of the Mexica doing this.
