If you want bright light effect in your artworks-just draw lighting in light color and put it in Add mode, bonus point if you add duplicate in Screen mode! You can change transparency to 50% and less if the lighting is too bright for you

Yeah most of the paintings I do only use one layer, the most recent one I did was actually an exception to this rule I used 4 layers (one for the sky, one for the background, one for the entire body and one for the mane.) and then I duplicated the body to make a shadow

Depending on the piece I probably use between 20-50?
though 80% of those are usually duplicates, I duplicate sketch layers and (if i'm painting) shading layers so i can go back if i mess up :0
So i guess you could say i use 1-2 layers in paintings but keep a ton of backups?
