I find it really interesting that the Umihara Kawase prototypes were basically Dig Dug 1 & 2 reskins, using the same enemies and eventually being inspired by the pump hose grapple mechanic

Dumb Sonic headcanon time: Heavy and Bomb are prototypes for what would eventually become Orbot and Cubot, which are basically Eggman's attempts at creating true Artificial Intelligence to serve him.

Heavy and Bomb failed for obvious reasons: they betrayed Eggman to help-
