THREAD for ’s + theme: Katabasis (descent to an underworld) is common in classical myth + lit, e.g. Odysseus, Aeneas, and Orpheus visit the Underworld. But this mythological theme is also prominent in fantasy literature:

The Greek goddess and witch Circe was the daughter of the sun god Helios and the nymph Perse. She was able to transform men into pigs and in one version of myth she bore Odysseus a son who later accidentally killed him.

Circe, a goddess & sorceress, who transforms many of Odysseus’s crew into swine. A symbol of women’s magical hold over men’s baser instincts.
"So she enticed & won our battle-hardened spirits over..."

In this episode from the Odyssey, Circe offers Odysseus's men a magic potion that will turn them into beasts, yet leave them helplessly aware of their changed state.

For what I’m working on, I’m checking this other drawing where Brandy and Crystal are arguing. They fight quite a bit in the story.
I had to make the sister of darkness the hero. Milton did a strange and profound thing to narrative. Well Odysseus is pretty murky too, I guess.
